Description
Way back in the day smoking was seen as a sophisticated, glamorous activity with most adults partaking, some tobacco companies even claimed smoking relieved medical complaints. Today we know better but collecting smoking memorabilia has become popular from advertising items and marketing items to packaging and social history. The item on offer is a "Gold Flake" Honeydew cigarette tin by WD & HO Wills. The tin would have originally held 50 cigarettes. Probably dating from the second quarter of the 20th Century this tin is in remarkably good condition. The tin is overall yellow in colour with gold guilding adding brightness to the design. The colours remain fresh and unfaded. There is some very minor surface wear and scratches which adds to that vintage appearence. The edge of the lid was guilded but due to decades of handling this has rubbed off to some degree. On the underside of the lid in perfect condition is the manufacturers name and the cigarette name in gold guilding on a yellow background. There is no rust or any dents. Overall this is a very nice piece considering it's age. This would make a great gift for a collector of smoking items, for someone who collects vintage tins or interested in design.
