Smoking may be bad for your health but this item has great social history and is very tactile.  Of pre-war age this tin was produced by Rothman's to hold their "Marksman" brand cigarettes. The tin itself is in very good condition having no dents or scratches but one corner of the lid does have a small split  The surface decoration is good but over the decades the gilding has rubbed away in areas of greatest use, mainly the lid and front side.  All this doesn't detract from it's interest or continued usefulness holding small bits and pieces.  An ideal gift for a smoking accessories collector, someone interested in advertising or social history or just a useful decorative item.
