When smoking was popular and more socially acceptable there were dozens of companies producing many varieties of tobacco to suit all tastes and this is one such variety. Produced by W & F Faulkner of London, Special Nosegay Tobacco was produced for decades. This item probably dates from the 1950's but may be slightly older. The tin is in very good condition considering it's age and the usage it has had. The lid design depicts a small bunch of stylised flowers. The green, cream and red colouring remains strong and unfaded as has the gilding. There is some slight surface wear and minor scratches which adds to that authentic vintage look. Remarkably there are no dents. The hinge is in good working order and the lid closes tightly. A nice item for a collector of smoking ephemera, or someone with an interest in vintage design or even as part of a themed display.
