Who could have imagined that when this item was produced the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II would become the longest reigning British monarch 70 years later. As with all royal events, especially coronations, memorabilia in all shapes and sizes and from all types of material were created. In this case a pressed clear glass plate, with glass beading used to add decoration which has been a popular form of momento since Victorian times. In the centre is a the Queen's crown above two crossed swords. Around the border is "Queen Elizabeth II Coronation June 1953". The edge of the plate is fluted. Being 70 years old this plate is in perfect condition, there are no chips and very minimal surface wear. Overall the plate has retained it's bright lustre. A great item that would be ideal for a collector of Royal memorabilia, as a centre piece for a 1950's display or for a collector of vintage glass commemorative plates.
