Up for offer is a genuine piece of British history that offers a captivating glimpse into the grandeur of a bygone era: an original souvenir album created for the 1937 coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Published by the legendary firm John Player and Sons, this vintage publication was specially designed to house Player’s prestigious Coronation Series of collectible cigarette cards. Featuring intricate classical border motifs alongside the majestic royal cipher monogram, the cover serves as a striking, nostalgic window into pre-war Great Britain. At nearly ninety years old, the album remains in remarkable, complete condition for its age. The cover and inner pages display a gentle, authentic, age-related foxing that only enhances its historic character, while the spine exhibits two minor tears yet remains securely attached by the original binding staples. Crucially, this set is entirely complete, containing all fifty original cigarette cards neatly mounted in their designated places across every page. Each card has been beautifully preserved, retaining the exceptionally rich, vibrant colours and crisp details from the exact day they were printed. Perfect for dedicated collectors of royal artifacts, vintage tobacco advertising, or rare historical ephemera, this fully intact album represents an increasingly scarce survivor of twentieth-century royal memorabilia that will make a truly exceptional addition to any serious collection.
