Description
Cycling is good for your health, your well being and the environment and so has been popular since Victorian Times. This year has seen a resurgence in it's popularity. Founded in 1878 The Cyclists' Touring Club was for the more adventureous cyclist who toured the country visiting places of interest. Being a member of the club gave you access to publications to help plan your routes along with other information. One such book was, the Scenic Atlas and Gazetteer written by Reginald Wellbye, a prolific author of such works over many decades. Only available for members this publication provides an alphabetical listing of places to see with a brief description, along with maps detailing visually 16 tours within which there are many different routes that can be taken. This particular item is undated but we think it's around the 1950's but it could be much earlier. The paper-back book is A4 sized and so a previous owner has folded it in half probably to stuff in a bag or jacket, as a result there is a creased fold down the centre but doesn't adversly affect the look of the item. The blue covers are slightly grubby giving an aged look. There is one small tear at the top and the staples are begining to rust. Considering it's age the item is in very good condition and clean throughout. A great object for a cycling enthusiast, for someone interested in a particular geographic area or for a current member of The Cyclists' Touring Club.
