Just what I need a lovely cuppa!  This item is from Tetley Tea, one of the most famous tea companies.  The octagonal shaped metal tea caddy was used to keep tea leaves fresh.  The item is in excellent condition apart from one small dent and some superficial rusting which would be expected for an item intended for use in a kitchen. The surface decoration is completely untouched, there are no scratches or fading.  The bright, golden gilding is as fresh as the day it was first applied, the blue coloured background remains vibrant.  Also displayed are photographs of the members of the founding Tetley family along with historical scenes connected with the company.  The illustrations suggest this tin was produced as a memento commemorating the centenary of the establishment of the company in 1837.  A great gift for tea memorabilia collectors, those interested in advertising or social history, an authentic prop for a play or television drama or simply as a small decorative piece.
