When you hear about snuff you think of a long lost activity way back in history but this is not true. The manufacturer of this Wild Mint snuff, Gawith Hoggarth & Co. Ltd still exists and still produces snuff and related tobacco products. The company began in 1887 and five generations later is still run by the same family in Kendal, Cumbria. This small, circular tin probably dates from the 1970's and was originally guilded but much of this has now either worn away or been replaced with patches of rust. The lid has rusted on tight. When shaken it sounds as though there may be some of the original contents remaining inside. The paper label has survived intact and is still readable. An item ideal for a collector of snuff related materials, for a vintage tin collector or for someone with a connection to Gawith Hoggarth & Co. Ltd.
