Before radio, television, or the internet, businesses relied on tactile promotional gifts to capture public attention, and this rare 1920s–1930s aluminium token from iconic British biscuit maker Peek Frean is a fantastic example. Produced to advertise their popular Teddy Bear biscuits, this coin-sized advertising piece measures 28mm in diameter. One side clearly displays the famous Peek Frean company name along with the product title. The reverse features a charmingly detailed figure of a teddy bear, underneath which tiny lettering credits the original manufacturer, Wright & Son of Edgware, Middlesex. Preserved in good or better condition, the token exhibits no structural damage and only minimal signs of age-appropriate wear, retaining all of its original detail and character.
