An official publication which should grace the library of any rail enthusiast. Pre-dating the Beeching closures of the 1960's this large volume lists every station, junction, sidings, collieries and works which used the rail system in the UK. Originally costing 25 shillings to purchase which is about £45 in today's money this hardback book is in excellent condition. The brown fabric covering is perfect with very slight fading on the front and spine due to sunlight. The lettering of the title on the front and spine is embossed with gold gilding giving the book a luxurious look. The binding remains strong. The pages are clean and unmarked throughout however due to age the edges are discolouring which adds to that vintage look. An item for anyone with a real interest in the railways in the UK, for someone connected to the railways or as a reference source for a local historian researching a particular region, town or company.
