"OXO" no not a failed line in noughts and crosses but one of the best known food brands for over a century. This item is very tactile and still very useful. Originally it would have been used to hold 6 cubes. Considering it's great age, this tin has survived remarkably well. The tin has no dents or fading but due to decades of use the gilding has rubbed off in many places especially around the sides. The lid and base are detachable. The lid is mainly red on the outside, with a 3D cube effect pattern behind the wording "OXO" Cubes. On the inside of the lid is an advert for "Fray Bentos" Meat and Fish Pastes. The base has printing on all sides which is still readable and on the underneath the uses of OXO are given. This would be a great item for a vintage tin or OXO collector, someone interested in advertising, as a prop for a production or as a decorative item for the kitchen.
