Description
Here's the chance to own a piece of WW1 era naval memorabilia. This rhombus shaped, crested china pin tray is in very good condition considering it is 100 years old. The body of the tray is white but has slightly discoloured beneath the transfer print. The gilding around the edge is heavily rubbed due to age and use. The print depicts a dreadnought battleship, with Britannia holding the White Ensign with a picture of Admiral Jellicoe upon her shield and an unfurled banner with the words "Britannia Rules The Waves" on. The Ensign has been hand coloured. The green makers back stamp is largely indistinct but the word Radfords can be read. We believe that this item was produced to commemorate either earlier successful British Naval engagements of WW1 or more likely the Battle of Jutland which took place in 1916. A great item for a WW1 memorabilia collector, a naval enthusiast, a crested china collector or as a piece in a themed display.
