Description
As a famous London landmark standing in Whitehall to commemorate the "Glorious Dead", the Cenotaph was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and unveiled by King George V on the 11th November 1920. These three sepia coloured, real photographic postcards date from the immediate preceding years. All three are postally unused, of standard postcard size and are in extremely good condition. Each picture shows comrades, widows, orphans and families viewing and laying wreaths after the official remembrance ceremony. Postcard 1 is made by W&K London (No.55) has a slight crease and a slight manufacturing flaw. Postcard 2 is made for WH Smith by Kingsway and has serial number S14941. Postcard 3 is made by Judges Ltd of Hastings and has serial number L258. A very poignant group of items that would be ideal for a postcard collector, a collector of London views, a social historian or a WW1 related memorabilia collector.
