Space Invaders was a landmark in electronic gaming in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Following on the from such worldwide success various companies developed their own alien "shoot 'em up" games to get in on the act and this genuine item is one such example. Dating from around 1980 this fully working, handheld electronic game has survived remarkably well. Due to it's age, the use it constant use it must have had and being stored for almost four decades the box has suffered. Although there is no fading or tears and it remains strong and intact, the box is heavily creased and rubbed along the edges and corners. The top of the box shows a full coloured photograph of the game and advertising terms "Dynamic sound and light", "Fluorescent display panel", "2K Bytes L.S.I" are used and mention of the game being advertised on television is made. On the underside of the box is a line drawing of the game with all the parts labelled as well as all the technical information. The actual game is still housed in the original polystyrene which is a bit battered but still protects the the game well. Made from plastic the upper surface is cream in colour while the underneath is brown. Where the game has been held the plastic has ever so slightly discoloured and the lettering on the product label has worn away in places but these things don't detract from the enjoyment of the game and enhance that vintage look. On the underneath of the game is a label with the instructions on. A really great piece of gaming history ideal for a collector of vintage electronic games, a collector of all things 1980's, or for someone looking to recapture their childhood.
